Actually, I have been a writer for 46 years, since I was seven years old. (to all you "mathematical people" and "inquiring minds", yes, I am 53 years old!)
In 1960, in a sleepy little town called Lubbock,Texas, as we finished our work in Mrs. Moore's second grade class, we allowed to pick manila folders with intriguing pictures (to second graders...) in them and write a story.
I loved doing that so much, that I would rush through Reading, Math, or Science to get to those folders, so I could write!! My teacher was both amused and frustrated (because I wasn't getting my other work done!!) Even then, at seven, I knew: We gravitate toward those things that we love and those activities in which we excell!
Even now, I put on off doing the laundry, paying bills, or cleaning up the yard, so that I can write!!
I have been a staff writer for Suite 101 as well as other career magazines.
I also write a personal blog at:
May I Write For You?
Whatever your writing needs may be, I am confident I can fulfill them,
ARE YOU...
- A school district requiring guides for courses, orientation manuals, curriculum, or special publications?
- A business needing creative copy to "showcase" your business services?
- A non-profit requiring help with grants or proposals?
- A web site that needs creative and introspective copy for audiences?
If it deals with words....I can provide them!

If you like to write.......
You CAN DO IT!!
Just keep in mind that writing is:
- lonely
- requires solitude and isolation
- brain-wrenching
- time-consuming
- something you must do EVERYDAY!
Because we are an Internet-obsessed society, there will be plenty of opportunities for writers in the future. For all the articles, information, research sites, online journalism sites, and blogs there will have to be a writer to write them!!! If you like to write, these jobs will be available to you!
Another nice benefit of being an Internet writer is that you are largely a freelance telecommuter--a great way to live--but not for the faint of heart!! This is the way the majority of workers will work in the future.
There is a giant asleep within every man. When the giant awakens, miracles happen....
